Hello my angels!
Here is an updated stay strong playlist for all of you:)
Part 1 from 2012
Part 2 from 2013
1. Anything, by Hedley
One of my favorite songs of the year so far! With lyrics such as "a thousand disbelievers couldn't keep me on the ground", you feel like accomplishing all of your wildest dreams, raising your middle finger to the haters and flying off into the sunset.
2. The Promise, by Emma Blackery
This song is dedicated to anyone struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, eating disorders, or just having a bad day. Crawl up into bed, listen to this on repeat, and tune out the world.
You're worth it:)
3. Invisible, by Hunter Hayes
Everyone in high school; pump your fists and chant in unison: (IN HIGH SCHOOL) THERE'S NO ROOM FOR ANYONE WHO DARES TO BE DIFFERENT.
Negative people aren't just limited to high school, unfortunately, so we all have to arm ourselves with good, stay strong songs to get us through the night.
Plus, have you seen Hunter? Such a babe will fix your crying eyes ;)
4. Let It Go, by Idina Menzel (Frozen)
One of the year's best movies comes to you with one of the best songs of all time.
No jokes, guys, Idina's beautiful voice mixed with a beautiful Disney message of "forgive, forget and fiercely move on".
Also one of the best songs to scream in your car while the people in other lanes judge you hard core.
5. Demons, by Imagine Dragons
Try as we may, we can't always hide our demons from those who love us. Losing control is scary, but it's also incredibly cathartic. Let people in, let them see the "dark inside", and those who stay are the worthy ones.
I was lucky enough to see ID live last year, and they are just as badass live as they are on their record, which makes supporting them all the more worth it.
6. Because We Can, by Bon Jovi
Okay, I have to admit, I was a Bon Jovi hater in my hay day.
But I started running to this song during the summer, and it makes for a fantastic pump up, stay strong song, that I just can't pretend otherwise.
Bon Jovi, you have my stay strong blessing.
7. Roar, by Katy Perry
I don't care who you are, where you're from, what you've been through,
this song is the shit.
If you don't dance along, making boxing moves as you scream at the top of your lungs, I'm sorry to inform you there is something deeply wrong with you.
Doctor, STAT.
<3
8. Unbroken, by Demi Lovato
This song is a bit older (2013, I think? I know, practically vintage), but there aren't good things I can say about Demi. An awesome mix of techno/dance and heartbreak recovery pop; can't beat the queen of stay strong.
She has the saying tattooed on her, for the love of God.
9. Unwell, by Matchbox 20
If you want a throwback, this is for you. I believe this is late 1990s progressive rock, but Matchbox 20 blows my mind to this day.
"I'm not crazy I'm just a little unwell" is probably the best lyric written in the 20th century.
2014 deserves a little 90s stay strong spice, and this song is IT.
Extra: 10. Superstar, by Ru Paul
Yes, Ru Paul the drag queen extraordinaire!
He says it all: You're a superstar.
Blast this in the morning, hum it as you strut down the street, dance to it at a party;
Stay strong has never looked so fucking good.

Single Valentine's Day Playlist (Stay Strong Songs 2014)
Hello my gorgeous fudgies
Are you done watching Nicholas Sparks movies
Cursing at the television?
Sending yourself flowers?
Did you run out of ice cream?
Valentine's Day sucks, I know.
But it is the great equalizer, because it sucks for every single person.
So get your single friends together, plug in your iPod, and let these stay-strong-during-valentine's-day tunes drown out the sound of your sobbing.

1. Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), Beyonce
There is no such thing as a single girl playlist without a little Beyonce.
I don't care if you're a metalhead or a country queen, this is the only song you need to dance away your problems.
2. Blow Me One Last Kiss, P!nk
Men. MEN. Can't live with em, can't live without them.
But just for one song, have enough of their ridiculousness, grab your hairbrush, and put on a show.
3. I Don't Wanna Be In Love, Good Charlotte
Love is silly, right? ...Right?!?!?!
Whether you believe this statement or not, GC's love-sucks anthem is untouchable. A nice throwback to 2008 (which is 6 years ago...just let that sink in grandmas).
4. Love Is Gone, David Guetta
Who says fist pumping, synth blasting techno music can't fix your broken heart?
With a chorus that was made to be screamed at the top of your lungs, get ready to dance, laugh and cry all at once.
5. Gunpower and Lead, Miranda Lambert
Unleash the scorned ex-girlfriend hiding in all of us with a Deep South country song.
Where are those pesky cowboys my mom bought in a garage sale....
6. Stupid, Sarah McLachlan
Let's slow down the tempo a little bit.
Locate your girlfriends, your tissues and a nearby ocean to throw yourself in, because no one is immune to Sarah's melancholic voice.
7. Everything We Had, The Academy Is...
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite (but sadly disbanded) alt groups.
Check out the video if you can, it's incredible (and by it's, i mean Will, the lead singer).
8. Somebody To Love, Queen
The most classic love(less) song of the 20th century.
The opera that shares the tale of many a single souls.
Freddy Mercury will live on as long as humanity and Valentine's Day does.
9. According To You, Orianthi
Picking the rhythm back up again with a girl power song.
Orianthi is an amazing guitarist, lyricist, and all around bad ass bitch who don't need no man.
Preach!
10. Your Favorite Song, Your Favorite Artist
This isn't about me. This is about you treating yourself, making sure that you realize how unimportant V-Day is, because loving yourself is about 132832931931 times more important than a crappy Hallmark card.
So play your favorite song, surround yourself with your favorite people, and buy yourself that discounted chocolate. You deserve it, dammit.

How Fierce Was 2013
Hello my darling angel faces:)
I am back from a long holiday hiatus, one of the longest I have taken in months! But I gotta say it feels
good to be back.
I have a new article for Adios Barbie in the works, and I'm giving several self esteem workshops for young girls during the months of January and February, so the beginning of 2014 sounds mighty promising!
Speeeeaaaking of 2014, Happy New Years (belated, but it's still a new year, so tough) my loves!
I already wrote an article on New Years Resolutions regarding weight for ANEB which will be published mid-January, so today I want to focus not on future goals, hopes and aspirations, but taking the time to look back at the past year, and asking ourselves:
on a scale of Rob Ford to Beyonce, how fierce was your 2013?
2013 for me was an nut job.
I,
-scored new writing gigs for ANEB, Derriere le Mirroir, and Adios Barbie.
-interned at 3 different mental health/child services non-profits
-watched the blog grow intellectually and statistically
-graduated high school in Quebec
-moved 7 hours away from my haters to my awesome new dream school
-powered through recovery like no other mother fudger
-made the High Honour roll
but I also,
-had some of my lowest lows
-dealt with high school drama
-moved 7 hours away from some of my best friends
-recovered, but had failures and relapses
-watched my anxiety sky rocket
-spent most of 2013 on Tumblr
-was NOT ONCE on The Ellen Show (kidding, but seriously, call me girl)
Everything can change in a year.
I never could have imagined that any of this, the good or the bad, could happen in just one year. As The Mountain Goats say, "there will be feasting, and dancing, in Jerusalem next year", whether you decide to stay around or not.
Which is why my new years resolution is simple, and the same as the year before:
Live to see 2015.
Have an amazing day my lovelies:)
xoxo
Gabby
PSSSSSSS: here are some awesome videos to start out the new year:)
1. god bless the vlogbrothers, the only ray of sunshine in my dark sky:) I'm kidding, but also not.
2. Laci is allllwwaayyyss on point, and in this video cleverly argues the selfie revolution, which is why I included a selfie in this post! Gurl, you go!
3. DO NOT WATCH IN PUBLIC, waterfalls of tears will shoot out of your pupils.

UPDATED: Top Ten Stay Strong/Inspirational Songs: 2013
Hello, my beautiful fudgies!
********to read updated 2014 list, click here!!!!!!!
About a year ago I posted an article on the blog listing off some of my favorite "stay strong songs".
And by some odd miracle, that post, which you can see by clicking here, has become my MOST POPULAR TO DATE!
I'm assuming a lot of you are just in need of some good inspirational music, so I scoured my iPod and made a new playlist for you all! Enjoy<3
1. Carry On, by Fun.
For some reason, the lyrics and the drums in this song make me want to build a bridge or cure AIDS or something! Like I can survive ANYTHING!
Plus this band is amazing live, so you know they are worth supporting!
2. Warrior, by Demi Lovato
I'm sure a few of you saw me coming, but I can't help myself, she is too good!
A very powerful, personal testimony sung by an amazing person with a kick-a** voice. Demi was incredibly honest about her personal struggles, and this song proves just how strong she is, just how strong we can all be!
3. Anything Can Happen, by Ellie Goulding
This song is ethereal, bouncy, and if you don't feel the urge to dance to this song, you may be ill. Because she is right, ANYTHING can happen, even your wildest dreams, so keep working!
4. I've Got What It Takes, by Alex Day
If you have ever been afraid to do something because of what others might say or think of you, please listen to this song. Produced entirely by him, this anthem should be the next Rocky theme song.
Plus the music video is also incredibly beautiful, so check it out as well!
5. True Colors, by Artists Against Bullying
If you have ever been bullied or are currently being picked on, if the words or actions of others still hurt you, you will adore this beautiful cover of Cyndi Lauper's hit by a group of popular Canadian artists such as Lights, Fefe Dobson, Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan, and (of course), the love of my life, Jacob Hoggard from Hedley.
6. Fix You, by Coldplay
If there is one song on this playlist that has to ability to make me cry, it is this one. It starts out slow, with Chris Martin's angelic voice singing these heart-wrenching lyrics, accompanied by a soft piano and guitar.
But by the end, the electric guitar picks up the pace and transforms the song into this uber-uplifting rock song. Coldplay, I give you permission to keep messing with my emotions.
7. Hair, by Lady Gaga
My favorite song by the QUEEN of individuality, a great pop hit, telling her story of self expression.
8. I Love It, by Icona Pop
This might be the best breakup song in the history of modern times. And even if you're not suffering from heartbreak, the beat and the lyrics will force you to headbang along, whether you like it or not.
9. You're Beautiful, by James Blunt
I KNOW, I KNOW, this song is as old as time, but when the going gets tough...
10. Whoa Is Me, by Down with Webster
Need to put aside the sad slow songs and the girl anthems for a bit? DWW may do just the trick with this great (over?)confident rap. Support Canadian artists!
That's all I have for you right now! Let me know if you want more :)
Xoxo
